The time between Christmas and New Years is very special in the High Country. There’s a chill in the air and an unmatched level of excitement. From hunting down crazy elves to New Year’s Eve fireworks, this time of year offers a variety of celebratory options near Blue Ridge Mountain Club.
For a Christmas celebration that is far from traditional, look no further than Crazy Christmas at Mystery Hill. At this family friendly adventure, a group of mischievous elves are trying to spoil Santa’s plans and he needs your help to find them. Along the way you’ll solve puzzles, engage in a snowball battle, and maybe even (safely) throw an ax or two. Once you’ve found all 12 elves scattered over the property, enjoy spending some time with Santa and his crew. This adventurous take on Christmas runs from November 25-December 23, 2022 and provides fun for the whole family.
Head over to Beech Mountain for the Very Beary Christmas Parade on December 22! This event runs along the Beech Mountain Parkway with an option to make holiday crafts and enjoy hot cocoa at Town Hall. Here, the entire community comes together to put on a show featuring everything from decorated cars to firetrucks covered in Christmas lights. You can even grab a photo with Santa at this small town celebration!
The fun at Beech Mountain doesn’t stop after Christmas, they also provide an annual event for the entire family to celebrate the New Year with New Year’s Eve Family Night. Dance the night away with DJ Pete and join in the New Year’s games. Snap a family picture in the photo booth before heading over to enjoy the beautiful midnight fireworks display!
If you’re looking for a different way to ring in the New Year then head over to Appalachian Ski Mountain’s New Year’s Eve Celebration. This party kicks off at 9 PM on New Year’s Eve but don’t worry, the slopes will stay open until 11:30 PM to enjoy skiing before the event. Take part in a torchlight parade, moonlight ice skating, and a fireworks show to end the evening.
